Jay Lumen - So Long Sunshine EP

It is always nice to see Hungarian producers releasing massive tracks on my favorite labels. So this is pure pleasure: take a look at the preview of Jay Lumen's forthcoming So Long Sunshine EP on Off Recordings!

Off Recordings welcomes once again a new member to the family. Jay Lumen already having releases on labels like Suara, Great Stuff Recordings, Ministry of Sound or Lost Language. This time he comes together with a 3-track belter, every one of them packed with dancefloor energy and frenzy.

"Nobody" starts the package with a phat jackin beat and a dope garage-esque bassline topped with housy stabs and diva vocals followed by more techy beats.
"To Be Different" is a peak hour tool with a very intense breakdown as well.
Last comes "So Long Sunshine" another bass-house killer with crazy stabs and synths, groovy bassline and another breakdown for the books.

All 3 of them are pure peaktime stuff!

Release date is set for 1 October 2013.

PARTY: Ioakim Sayz, Monkeyneck, Rapsaam @ Kolor (09-27, Friday)

It's Thursday already and I had an extremely busy week but it is time to think about the weekend so let's kick off with this preview of a nice party coming around tomorrow in Kolor.

Here's a nice warmup treatment from him:

Hungarian house warriors, Monkeyneck and Rapsaam will complete the lineup. Monkeyneck is causing quite a stir when it comes to fresh electronic music talents in Hungary, his brand new track "Hey Boy" gathered some massive numbers on Youtube (it's an awesome video by the way, I urge you to check it out), while Rapsaam will have the duty to finish out the party in a memorable way.

Check them out and be there!

PARTY: Rayko @ Urimuri (09-21, Saturday)

In case you're in Budapest and haven't decided so far on the upcoming Saturday night, here's the perfect solution for you: Galactic Boogie & Urimuri presents Spanish re-edit master Rayko behind the decks in the next edition of the Úri Boogie series.

Producing and re-edit tracks since 2006, Rayko is an established name in the nudisco business right now with numerous releases on labels like Nang, Chopshop, Emerald & Doreen or his very own Rare Wiri. Having gigs all around the world during the past 12 months, he will finally arrive in Budapest to make his debut here and to show some of his magic to the dancefloor of Urimuri so I bet this one will be a memorable night, don't miss out!

Luckily, he posted a brand new DJ mix on his Soundcloud page this morning (what a coincidence) so this one will provide some proper warmup material before you head out to the party. Enjoy!

PARTY: Roger Sanchez @ Ötkert (09-20, Friday)

Budapest is looking forward to a huge weekend as some of the top dogs in the world of house will invade the city to tear up some dancefloors.

For instance, Ötkert decided to kick off its Season Opening Weekend with one of the all-time greats, a true hall of famer, the S-Man aka Roger Sanchez. I don't think he needs a longer introduction as it is way enough to tell you that he produced tracks under more than 15 aliases, he is being one of the true pioneers of house music and  associated with the worldwide known brands of Stealth Records and Release Yourself.

Further to that, he is also a Grammy winning artist and worked together with Madonna, Daft Punk, Kylie Minogue, The Police or No Doubt. Maybe those names will ring a bell.

As always I'm going to leave with you a pretty decent mix from the man himself that will help to set your mood for Friday night in Ötkert. Prepare for pure house music!

B:Azta - Requiem

It is always a pleasure for me to introduce new young Hungarian talent on the blog, and I'm really sure that you are going to like this one as well. Budapest-based prodigy B:Azta has bombed me earlier with his productions which were quite promising but his sound needed a bit of maturing. Well, he has arrived!

His latest track "Requiem" is an absolute monster that I think deserves international recognition. Combining pretty nice melodies with thunderous thick basslines has been a trademark for B:Azta, but the fantastic buildup of the track really caught my attention.  I think there are some big things coming up for the young lad if he's sound keeps evolving in this tempo.

Enjoy the track - and if I forgot to mention - download it, because it is totally free!

Revue feat. Polar Dear - You Can Handle It

Daniel Sivo aka Revue might be familiar for you from  indie rock band Panic Radio, but for now he has turned into an electronic musician who is experimenting with various genres such as trap, moombahton or house. He already had a track released on A-Trak's Fool's Gold Records but now it's time for an even bigger shot: "You Can Handle It" is a brand new summerish house track featuring the vocals of Oleg Borsos from Polar Dear.

"You Can Handle It" was destined to be the first track of the new Revue EP which was about to be released by the end of the summer. However, things have luckily changed and Gooseneck Records snatched the track for a release with 5 remixes so the EP is due in mid-October (with remixers such as Clouded Judgement and Troncoso) so it's about a month away to get our dirty little hands on the full versions.

Until then, please enjoy the great work of Örs Koblicska who was the director of this insanely cool video. Further to that, please throw some likes to Revue on Facebook as well!

RELEASE: Heston - Downlow EP

For Love Not Money's 37th release they welcome onboard Heston, the brainchild and alter ego of Toolroom Records & Noir music artist Chris Special.

On offer is two heavy hitting originals „Downlow” & „These Catz”, both delivering bags of drive and energy, capable of giving any underground dance-floor a good workout. With both tracks fusing together elements of deep house, tech & nudisco while adopting subtle Balearic tones in the breakdowns leads to a somewhat fresh approach among todays vastly saturated music market.

On remix duties Love Not Money bring onboard UK wonder kid Bontan, following his recent Beatport onslaught, spending a month at the deep house #1 spot and his recent remix of Underworld's „Downpipe” on Toolroom firing up the charts he continues his reign delivering a stripped back bass line workout bringing groove and bounce to lead track „Downlow”.

Other remixes come from Inner Rebels, a relatively new production duo made up of previous Love Not Money signings Manos & Rafael Cerato. Their remix of „Downlow” takes a slightly more late-night, low-slung approach, dropping the tempo and bringing the dark undertones to the EP.

Rounding off the release is long serving Love Not Money artist Matt Fear who once again demonstrates a talent that's earned him a multitude of fans the world over. His remix of „These Catz” express's the ease in which Matt approach's a remix assignment and his ability to re-invent a track in his unique signature style and thus completing one of the strongest Love Not Money releases to date.

PARTY: Tribute to DJ Mehdi @ Kolor (09-13, Friday)

In 2013, the 13th of September is not only a simple Friday to lash out some jokes but also the 2-year anniversary of DJ Mehdi passing away. Rather than having a sad happening, the Sticky Beats crew thought why shouldn't we summon the spirit of Mehdi with a huge party in the heart of Budapest - at Kolor.

Here's what the organisers say about the event:

He had made the transition from French underground hip-hop producer to a key collaborator with Busy P on a definitive electronic/funk/hip-hop sound, along the way working with artists such as: Daft Punk, Cassius, Futura 2000, and Chromeo.

The Sticky Beats guys now celebrate him with a night featuring hip-hop, funk, house, and of course French touch electro, in yet another of our memorable series at Kolor.

The weather outside may be cooling down, but we're just heating up. ;) Vive le Mehdi!

Of course it wouldn't be BPB if I let you head out to this party without some proper warmup stuff. Last year, a good friend of Mehdi, Feadz prepared a superb tribute mix, check it out!

Off Recordings Podcast Episode 110 - mixed by Betoko

As you may have noticed, the Off Recordings Podcast has become one of my favorite podcasts (out of so many...) during the last few months. It is always a pleasure to post them on BPB, but this one seems to be a rather special one.

First of all, it is coming from one of the biggest names in the Off Recordings' stable, secondly, the guy is having a monstrous gig in Budapest next Friday so it is also quite actual: yep, this is Betoko!

Beto's having a huge year with releases on labels like Nurvous, Hotfingers or Get Physical Music while also having gig all around the world. This podcast isn't an exception either: this one is a 1-hour live recording from one of his recent sets recorded in Brazil.

ID hunters can pack up, it is also full of new tracks along with his newly released I'm a Gin EP! Check it out!

PREVIEW: The Magician feat. Newcomers - When The Night is Over

The Magician finally returns with an original production after a quite long hiatus. This will be his first track released on Parlophonic as he isn't arriving solo to the label: the vocals on the new track are performed by Newcomers!

After the first listen of the track it is quite obvious that the track is lacking the so called "disco magic" - one of the trademark characteristics of The Magician's tracks. However, it is also very apparent that his trying to discover new genres with this track - maybe because of the style of the vocals, if someone would show me this track without knowing the producer, I would guess Disclosure at first.

All in all, I have to say that I'm really into this new production, so I can't wait the release of the single on 23 September and the EP on 4 November as well (looking forward to some tasty remixes!).

Until then, enjoy the preview!

PREVIEW: Nicky Romero vs. Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano - Sound of the Underground

This tune has been going around for a few weeks now as it has been slammed by lot of the top DJs in the finish of the festival season. It was revealed that Nicky Romero teamed up with fellow Dutch duo Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano and now, the official preview arrived as well: here is "Sound of the Underground"!

As it is destined to destroy dancefloor worldwide, there is no need to apologize for the four different drops inserted in this track. It perfectly blends Nicky's EDM driven thick bass sound with the tribal influences of Sunnery & Ryan. Different melodies and synthesizer combos introduced at each of the drops - in order to show the influences of the three producers working on this track.

It is not a surprise that former SHM member Steve Angello  picked up the track for a release on his very own Size Records. Release date is set for 30 September 2013.

Chromeo's new album trailer

A lot of us has been waiting for this day: Chromeo finally previewed a few bits of the new album. We already know the title ("White Women") and if you check out this nasty little 2-minute preview I bet we know the first single which will be titled "Over Your Shoulder".

Of course many people will hail the "Daft Punk"-feel to track (or should I say Get Lucky-feel?) but if you heard some of the duo's tracks you surely know that being funky is not far from the guys at all. Following the massive success of Fancy Footwork and Business Casual, I think (and really hope) that the third album will be destined for worldwide applause as well. And who knows, maybe we will see them touring around Europe next summer?

PREVIEW: Mendoza - Phantasy EP

One of the best previews, I’ve ever received, big ups to No Brainer Records – according to the samples, this EP is at least as good as it is previewed.

„Since Mendoza moved from Hamburg to Berlin he's much cooler. His music got heeps better just because. 'Phantasy' pays tribute to the mind's unpredictable roads and alleys which come up with info texts like this. Indienudancehousedeepbass if you wish.

Well I wish an irresistible love song like 'Can't Get Over You' would top the charts 24/7. I hear Kraftwerk, I hear Soul, I hear clearly now the rain has gone. More of You in 'UUU' which gets to me and is being released so it gets to you. Let's all hope this gets to you.

In a world where remixes rule the world what would this EP be without the best remixes of the world? Not sure, but with these remixes from Justin Jay (Dirtybird) who goes deep and Vanilla Ace (Off Recordings) who doesn't considering this is Deep House, it's an outstanding EP. You can add a + to the outstanding, cause to finish things off Arcade (No Brainer Records) splits 'Phantasy' into it's atoms.”

Release date is set for 27 September 2013.

01. Mendoza - Phantasy
02. Mendoza - Can't Get Over You
03. Mendoza - UUU
04. Mendoza - Phantasy (Justin Jay remix)
05. Mendoza - Phantasy (Vanilla Ace remix)
06. Mendoza - Phantasy (Arcade remix)

Soundbank - All The Time (Mix for what is left of this summer)

Well, the grey autumn days already approached us, but I'm still tending to think and daydream about the last summer. If any of you out there feeling the same way as I do, you've got a pretty decent treat right here.

Soundbank from the up-and-coming Designer Drums group (who are gigging more and more around Budapest, especially in Toldi and AnKert) provided a mix that will help you recall your memories and maybe to relive some of the best moments of your summer. Being a really eclectic mix with tracks from Tangerine Dream, Claude Vonstroke or Osunlade, it clearly shows the excellent selection skills of Soundbank. Enjoy!

PREVIEW: Zeds Dead x Greta Svabo Bech - Shut Up & Sing V2.0

6th September marks the day on which Zeds Dead's brand new collaboration with Greta Svabo Bech will be released. Don't be fooled by the track title though - this one is an emotional, melodic track with a few massive drops inserted in order to keep the trademark Zeds Dead sound.

Greta's vocals perfectly fitting the track - you may know her voice from Deadmau5's "Raise Your Weapon" or The Bloody Beetroots' "Chronicles of a Fallen Love". Not so surprising though as the original is one of Greta's original tracks.

Check it out!

PREVIEW: Francesca Lombardo - What To Do EP

Fast-rising Rebel queen Francesca Lombardo is back on Crosstown with her seductive new single ‘What To Do’ featuring remixes from Infinity Ink, Matrixxman and a Luca Cazal Dub. Showcasing Francesca’s undeniable raw talent and pure, fluid vocal flair, ‘What To Do’ is another example of the producer’s sublime song composition in an electronic framework. The sultry mood evoked by Francesca’s voice wraps around the infectious melody as spooky ethereal tones rise and fall with the subtly driving groove.

Francesca Lombardo has rapidly become one exceptionally in-demand lady on the scene. Fully inaugurated into the Rebels camp, the Italian London based DJ/producer and classically trained vocalist released her first two highly acclaimed ‘Changes’ and ‘Eyes Of Nature’ EPs on Crosstown Rebels and is gearing up for a debut album release on the label next year plus a much coveted appearance on the Rebel Heart stage at Burning Man 2013. Francesca also recently debuted in the Boiler Room with a magical live set, coming soon.

Talking about the remixes, Infinity Ink strip down the elements with mechanical precision, injecting some darker bass and a more solid kick. Matrixxman revels in the twilight zone and delivers an alternative trippy tapestry of jagged synth stabs and melodic bleeps with only waves of the vocal. Luca Cazal’s Dub is a perfect late night builder with added sonic textures.

Release date is set for 9 September 2013.

NERVO & Ivan Gough feat. Beverly Knight - Not Taking This No More

Southern hemisphere superpowers have joined their forces: the hot shot girl duo NERVO teamed up with Ivan Gough who is responsible for one of last year's biggest hits (along with Feenixpawl and Georgi Kay) for another dancefloor tearing bomb.

Complimented by the vocals of Beverly Knight, "Not Taking This No More" is hitting you right in the face as I bet that it will be one of the biggest bombs of the autumn. We have to wait for the release until 23 September but Spinnin Records was so kind to share us the official video for the track.

So here you go, enjoy the beautiful Ibiza footages!

PREVIEW: Celsius - Incoming EP

One of my favorite producers, South London based, Celsius, has built quite a name for himself over the past few years, releasing with Jaymo & Andy George’s reputable Moda Black imprint, as well as remixing for Anjunadeep, and picking up BBC Radio support from Skream, Annie Mac, Pete Tong and even filtering through to Nick Grimshaw’s daytime show, a striking sign of the modern appeal embodied in his music. Further support has come from Huxley, and Claude Vonstroke so it would seem Celsius is ticking all the boxes to elevate his career in 2013. Here he puts another foot forward, joining the MadTech roster following the steps of Citizen, No Artificial Colours, and Voyeur.

Title track „Incoming” opens the single, and does so in style, with its enticing, pad and bass-driven intro, which soon, evolves into hectic synth stab and bass hook melodies that brilliantly, intricately develop throughout the track with baroque variations continually being introduced. The cosseting melodies, sporadic chords and a hi- pitched vocal licks are then worked into the structure intermittently to break things down and build tension surrounding the sturdy foundations, the result is a unique track covering lots of territory yet maintaining coherency.

Up next is „Thirds & Fourths”, which takes on a more, set-back, ethereal approach with the melodic side of things, opting to use soft pads, heavily delayed and reverberated string chops and FM synths. While shuffled rhythms, manipulated vocal snippets and the infectious bass-line carry the weight of the record.

Then lastly to close the EP, is „No Ratio”, a slow-blooming, bass heavy, workout which again tightly blends cleverly sampled vocal lines, bright strings and loose 4/4 drums alongside an amalgamation of earth-shattering sub-bass and organ tones, creating a fantastic contemporary house number.

Release date is set for 7 October 2013.

Venice Valley - Stay

This spring, Andor Sugár and Peter Hencz have decided to start a new musical project, that also heavily focuses on the visualization of their sounds. Thus, Venice Valley was born and right now, I'm proud to present their first single "Stay".

The main idea behind the project is quite simple to understand: Venice Valley equals summer. It will pop up in your mind when you will watch the sunrise at the seaside, lie on the beach in the heat while sipping a cocktail or just simply when you're recalling those joyful dawns back in this July.

The Budapest-based duo is concentrating on producing cutting edge pop music, however I feel that not only their music, but their brand new - and also inaugural - video will fit the scheme of Budapest Bonkers quite well. Each sound in "Stay" was designed to picture the most memorable moments of the summer.

I'm really looking forward to their forthcoming works and to some intriguing remixes of "Stay" as well.

Chris Jylkke - Flatline Disco Mixtape

For the lovers of deeper sounds, please welcome the newest mixtape of Swedish nudisco hotshot, Chris Jylkke. The Stockholm-based maniac once again represents his not northern but rather mediterranean and tropic influences while playing out some of the newest and most exclusive stuff in the tropical disco business right now. Unfortunately, this also means that you have to go for that ID hunt, as there is no official tracklist to this mixtape. Have fun!
