Your Guide to the Weekend Episode 032 - mixed by Dante GBRL

The Budapest Bonkers weekend warmup series is back to help to set your mood for the weekend and let you forget the difficulties of the boring weekdays.

I don't want to praise my very own mix, but I have to praise the producers since this week I got so many stunning tracks that the whole episode is full of newbies! Kicking off with Zurich's Fat Sushi who used the same sample as Tube & Berger on the well-known "Set It Off" - well, they made their approach a free download, though it is still superb and I will play it a lot for sure! Hungarian up-and-comers Stamusic finally released their long-awaited "Clap" track, so Russ Chimes with "Motions" (free download as well btw). And two of BPB's top 10 tracks of 2013 will also appear on this episode, though one of them will be in the form of an exciting mashup!

Don't miss out on this mix, listen, share, download and have a superb weekend!

Kill Frenzy - Big Breasted Beauty EP

The next material of the really trendy Hypercolour imprint will be provided by Belgian Kill Frenzy who already showed his skills on Claude Vonstroke's Dirtybird label as well. Let's take a look at this well-titled EP (coming out next Monday!):

''We'd like to think that Sébastien AKA Kill Frenzy is an avid bird watcher, all this talk of tits and big breasted beauty's, certainly his previous releases on Dirtybird and Twin Turbo warmed our breasts enough to welcome him into the Hypercolour fam with this new 3 track EP. "Big Breasted Beauty" is a rock solid bass boomer, its subby riff dominating the choppy arrangement and filtering synth sweeps, a right old "call to the dancefloor" on this one from the young Belgian producer. "Tittie Compass" is a smooth chugger, the melodic string stabs and distant muted trumpets warming up proceedings whilst the vocal chant makes his way around a compass, just to get his bearings you understand. Final cut "Night Away" quite literally 'dances the night away', the infectious vocal hook is back dropped with a modern house production.''

Idris Elba - Look with Your Ears Mix vol. 1

First, I have to state that I'm not really fond of celebrity DJing, but this is really something else.

Hollywood-star and longtime DJ Idriss Elba delivered a brand new mixtape, which is not only interesting because he's a big name actor (just think of Nelson Mandela, RocknRolla and many other) but he was also a DJ before his acting career began. He held an Ibiza residency last year and kept following the electronic music scene. This 60-minute mixtape truly shows that he's a fan of quality when it comes to house music and he's willing to share it with us (according to the title this won't be a once in a lifetime thing).

Enjoy!

PARTY: Budapest Calling w/ Klangkarussell @ Trafiq (2014-02-27)

After successfully hosting two parties during the past 4 weeks with Francesco Rossi and the Pusch Brothers headlining, the Budapest Calling crew raises the stakes with yet another superb act to close out this winter: Klangkarussell will tear down the dancefloors in Trafiq this Thursday!

The Austrian duo's real breakthrough was their collaboration with Will Heard, titled "Sonnentanz" when the world discovered their unique sound, which merges the traditional house tones with jazzy and loungish sounds. "Sonnentanz" itself generated 20 million views on Youtube alone, so you can imagine that this was quite a launch for the project.

Since then they've remixed Laura Mvula's "Sing to the Moon" which screams for goosebumps, a haunting deep rework of the equally great original track. Recently they have released their first remix on Above & Beyond's Anjunadeep imprint, remixing Lane 8's "The One".

The guys surely have a really bright future ahead of them. This Thursday night you can also feel their magic, so don't hesitate to head out to Trafiq!

Here are some warmup treatments, that will help to set your mood!

BrainWash - I Love Haters vol. 8

I got this mix sent over to me yesterday evening from Polish up-and-comer DJ BrainWash who is not a new name to those who are aware of the nudisco scene in Poland. His mix series titled "I Love Haters" already reached its 8th episode, which is dedicated to the So Sno Festival where he will perform alongside the Dub Pistols.

I strongly recommend this mixtape which will be known for two things: extremely fresh tracks (new tracks and remixes from The Magician, Cassian, ZHU and many others) and flawless mixing. Enjoy!

BRAINWASH - I LOVE HATERS VOL. 8 X SO SNO FESTIVAL

Tracklist:
01. Karma Kid - Like I'm on Fire (Kartell remix)
02. Klaves - Without You
03. Kartell - Minimum Move

13. Jakwob - Somebody New (TCTS remix)
14. Kidnap Kid - Like You Used To

Klaxons - There is No Other Time (Claptone remix)

It's quite hard to get any cooler than this: following the massive success of "Ghost" and "No Eyes", Claptone is back in the remixing ring. The subject is none else than the new track of the legendary Klaxons. Here are some pretty amazing facts relating to the original material:

"There’s a lot of amazing things aligning here with this premiere. First off, it’s new material from Klaxons. This alone is momentous as they were essentially one of the first acts to really take off in blog culture almost 10 years ago and have even had trends based on them in the UK. Basically, they broke the internet before there was such a thing. Second, there are some serious names affiliated with this new material that’s supposed to be presented as a new album in the spring. The album appears to be steered in some part by Tom Rowlands (1/2 of the Chemical Brothers…HELLO) and the one and only James Murphy (LCD Soundsystem, DFA Records). These facts alone have me geeked as they are two of my bigger influences in all of dance music. Third, this premiere. Word is Gorgon City produced the original and Claptone, who’s been on fire in the disco house realm for some time, took this to the deep house stratosphere. So essentially this whole project seems crazy and I’m officially now on pins and needles waiting for more to drop."

Goldroom - Inverno Mix 2014

As the winter finally comes to an end and a new season approaches, Goldroom from Los Angeles take on the decks to deliver yet another sun-soaked 1-hour mix:

"I hope you all enjoy my latest seasonal mix, this one in the last throws of winter. I made this mix while prepping to come to Australia, which I think came across in the song selection. I can feel the warmth of the sun and the first hint of springtime on the horizon.

A huge thank you to all of the artists' music that I used. Everyone should check the tracklist below and be sure to take a minute to listen to their music.

And of course, thank you all so much for listening. I put a lot into these mixes and your support and encouragement for them keeps me excited and driven to try and make each one fresh and unique"

Jordan Suckley - Essential Mix (2014-02-22)

There's so little love shown to the trance community on Budapest Bonkers so I think the latest BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix is a great opportunity to praise one of the true trance DJs out there, Liverpool-based Jordan Suckley.

The Englishman is constantly releasing trance and tech-trance bombs since 2007, having appeared on labels like Reset Records, Subculture, Liquid Recordings and of course, the Armada labels. Being of the residents last year on BBC Radio 1's "In New DJs We Trust", he's not a stranger to the listeners and finally he got his chance to show what he's up to these days.

Enjoy!

Your Guide to the Weekend Episode 031 - mixed by Dante GBRL

Oh yes, oh yes! The weekend is approaching once again and despite the Dante GBRL February Mixtape, I still mixed this week's YGTTW for you - since there are so many superb tracks around, they just simply doesn't fit into 1-hour.

For example, here's a new Hi@st remix by the Hungarian duo AceLine, brand new RHCP remix by Gamper & Dadoni or I could also mention the exciting new track "Hypnotic" by Zurich-based Fat Sushi, which was released on Light My Fire a few days earlier. As I usual, I promise that you will love this episode if you're a fan of indie dance and nudisco.

Have a nice weekend and if you liked the mix, please throw me a like on my brand new Dante GBRL Facebook page!

PARTY: Úri Boogie w/ Miguel Campbell @ URIMURI (2014-02-22)

The Úri Boogie party series returns this Saturday for yet another superb show for the lovers of deep house and nudisco. Further to residents, Add2Basket, SpaceWalker Recordings head honcho Holic and DJ Szett, the event welcomes a true premier league name of these genres: Mr. Miguel Campbell.

Hailing from Leeds, Miguel already had numerous releases on his very own Outcross Records (both under his own name and also as MAM with Matt Hughes) and the legendary Hot Creations, while remixing the likes of Butch, Climbers, Soul Clap and TEED, while he became a true household name. In his mixes, Miguel creates a perfect blend of funk, deep house, disco and french house - which also culminated in not only a ton of gigs around the world but also in a huge Essential Mix hosted by him on BBC Radio 1. Further to his EPs, he also released his own artist album in 2012 - "Back in Flight School".

So, fasten your seatbelts as the Galactic Boogie crew welcomes the funky Englishman for a huge party this Saturday in the newly opened URIMURI! Of course it wouldn't be BPB, if I finish this post with some listening material before the party!

Deaf DJs - February 2014 Mix

Another month has passedy by which means a brand new mix from BPB favorite Deaf DJs. The duo slowed down a bit during the last few weeks, though it does not seem to prevent them from posting awesome mixes.

The brand new monthly mixtape features their well-known sound, wandering between cool & relaxed house tunes to ass-shaking nudisco anthems. My favorite ones here are the superb Urulu remix of Ben Mono's "The Dub Feel" (the original mix is totally mint as well) and of course, a recent anthem - the Noir remix of Audiowhores' collab with Stee Downes: "The Facts".

Enjoy this mixtape and show some love to the Deaf DJs!

Dante GBRL - February Forever (February 2014 Promo Mixtape)

It has finally arrived! You might be aware of the fact that Budapest Bonkers is a one-man show (at least so far), and as I love to compile the newest tracks for the blog, I'm also in love with DJing.

Thus, not only the mixing of the "Your Guide to the Weekend" series, but I'm also pursuing gigs as well so from now on, a monthly promo mixtape will take its place on the blog too (here's a notice: I am happy to receive similar promo mixes from up-and-coming DJs, don't hesitate to contact BP Bonkers).

This mix is a bit different, it is a bit more "exclusive", but as usual: mainly it contains high-octane nudisco, indie dance and house tracks, both from really talented but yet not well-known producers and superstars.

Please welcome "Forever February", listen, share and download. And if you liked it, please throw me a like on my newly launched Facebook page:

The Magician - Magic Tape 40

Just a few days following the announcement that The Magician will visit Hungary this year as well, and will perform at B My Lake Festival, here's the newest episode of his well renowned Magic Tape series.

Stephen has been quite busy this year, already remixing the likes of Chromeo, Clean Bandit and Chris Malinchak, seeing the release of the monstrous Grades remix of his latest single "When The Night is Over" - which is a huge BPB favorite too - and having gigs all around the world.

As usual, the newest Magic Tape is filled with unreleased material - though it is promised that the new Chromeo remix is inside - along with the Blonde remix of Marlon Hoffstadt and Dansson's "Shake That" and a new Honest remix of Ellie Goulding's "Goodness Gracious".

R3hab - Essential Mix (2014-02-15)

Just a week after the release of his newest single "Samurai" on Spinnin Records, Fadil El Ghoul aka R3hab made his well-deserved Essential Mix debut.

The mix itself reflected perfectly the hard-hitting, massive electro and EDM sounds of R3hab with debuting tracks from Gareth Emery, Deorro and himself as well while also premiering numerous mashups and re-edits never heard before.

I would say lay back and enjoy R3hab's first Essential Mix outing but I doubt that you will sit still if you're listening to this monstrous mix!

Sleazy G's Bangerz volume 1

Keepin’ it real & consistent for 2014 Sleazy G continues to smash the scene with more G’s pushing the bass heavy bangerz smashing the floors Worldwide!

Whether G’s for Gangsta or G’s for Ghetto we feel the energy and power within this music really speaks for itself and will always bring the party alive! This time around a various artists selection aptly called Sleazy G’s Bangerz Vol. 1 bringing some future G’s to the label and giving your box some serious weaponry to kill the dancefloor with.

First up we have label boss man Rob Made with his Tha Hood! A serious hands up anthem ready to take the floor to pieces. Arabian sampled Hip Hop Pop banger with the Big Dogg himself and some tasty pussy is all you need to know, this is BIG & Loud bitch. WOOF!

Next up Sleazy Deep artist DISTRKT takes a nasty G-House turn with My Own Bass, lip smackin’ beats and vocals tear this club banger along with its ridin’ percs & killin’ it bass setting this bomb right off.

Vijay & Sofia Zaltko’s banger Drop It Like It’s Hot is a serious peak timer ready to do the bizness & set the floor off, this has been getting serious love and we can see why!!!

Holt Blackheath and Nuthin’ But A G (House) Thang drops the pressure with it’s ridiculously phat beats and smashin’ it down well known sampled vocal hooks “yeaaaah we don’t quit” is proper hot property.

Next it’s the amazing talents of Ania Iwinksa and Outlaw. These girls gonna feature heavy for Sleazy G and this is a kooky dirty birdesque floor filler with amazing atmosphere and sick N.E.R.D.Y sampled vocals, “ooh baby you want me?” Yeah we fuckin’ do!

Lastly Herbie Hancock get’s a make over with Cucumbers smash "Rockit", taking the original classic and reworkin’ with phuture bass & sizzling G’ness. Has Sleazy got the bangerz? Yeaaaah, G!

Tough Love presents Bring The Heat volume 1

Get Twisted Records head honchos Tough Love are back in the driving seat with their brand new “Bring The Heat” series. Following on from the success of recent remixes for Le Youth, Donae’o & Jaguar Skills the boys return with fresh artillery, heavily influenced by there love for hip hop, garage, soul & of course house.

Opening track "Lonely Highway" shows off Tough Love’s big bumpy bass lines that they're fast becoming known for. Its powerful 4x4 kick is backed up perfectly with skipping percussion guaranteed to keep the dance floor moving, while the classic throwback vocal provides nostalgic millennium memories, enticing the listener to sing along. A certified club banger!

"Sweet Memories" is just that, a track for yesteryear. Tough Loves signature big bumping bass is perfectly balanced with soulful classic vocals. The track playfully teases from the very start, warm soulful pads, strings & keys eventually bring the track to its climax through the introduction of uplifting melodic chord stabs & cleverly arranged percussion. A sure favorite for nu disco & house lovers.

"Love & Happiness" provides a much deeper insight into Tough Love's musical production style. Its beautiful signature vocal is met with a rip roaring bass typified by their grand garage-esque drums. A cheeky occasional bass line wobble & break section exhibits their musical journey, as the fast rising duo tilt there hat to the UK Garage movement.

"Are You Blind" completes this quartet of musical mayhem. Big & bold just like what we expect from the Tough Love duo. This track offers a deeper twist than previous tracks on the album, with its reminiscent verses, chopped vocal and cleverly amended hook line. Constant moving percussion & powerful organ leads prepares “Are You Blind” for any battle on the dance floor.

The release date is set for 10 March 2014.

Manuel Sahagun - Right There EP

In 2014 Mother Recordings kicking it off with a new release from Argentinean Manuel Sahagun who surprised us already last year with some solid tracks in collaboration with Jay West. His second EP “Right There” contains two original tracks and remixes from Berlin's Daniel Solar (label head of Dikso Records) and Fat Sushi from Zürich (OFF Recordings).

01 - Right There (Original Mix)
The track is based on a solid disco groove with a slow build up and a beautiful hookline (“I’m gonna be right - there for loving”). Deep synth chords, a rolling bassline and lovely percussion work creates a warm, embracing feeling aiming right for the hips. This one’s for the girls!

02 – False Alarm (Original Mix)
A smooth, rolling track with a satin black spoken voice reminding us to stay cool (False Alarm). Easier said then done because the catchy vibe, working it up to a great piano break is pure funkiness. It’s hard to squeeze more sex and attitude into one track.

03 - False Alarm (Fat Sushi Remix)
Attention every one: this one’s not straight from London’s Southside – this is how they spice it up in Zürich/ Switzerland! Fat Sushi’s remix is a peak time monster with all hands in the air during the break, thanks to those amazingly fat synth chords.

04 - Right There (Daniel Solar Remix)
Berlin based Daniel Solar delivers a very convincing interpretation of the original. It’s bass, bass and more rolling bass. The buildup is tight and super effective. A great DJ tool with reduced vocals and all the other elements in the right place.

Here's your previews, the EP is set for release 18 February 2014!

PARTY: Kollektiva /w Kolombo @ Ötkert (2014-02-14)

The Kollektíva Crew is having one blast per month as they did back in January by hosting the mysterious Claptone. In February they have other plans and why wouldn't you spend your Valentine's Day night with one of the biggest names in the nudisco business?

Yep, the February guest will be none else than Olivier Gregoire aka Kolombo who had releases on labels like Noir Music, Off Recordings, Bunny Tiger, Suara, Mexa Records, Chilli Mint Digital or Tobus Limited...during the last 12 months! He's also travelling around the world all year long, having numerous gigs around the globe in the biggest clubs and festivals. So, next up will be Ötkert in Budapest this Friday, alongside the Kollektiva DJs (TMX and Popbitch), Begi from Compact Disco and Holic from SpaceWalker Recordings - so be hot and be there.
