DJ Moon - Deep in the City Podcast (June 2015)

Deep in the City is one of the newest, yet hottest deep and tech house party series in Budapest. Already having successful stunts in Volt Bar at Akvárium and having hosted some cool up and coming talent including Davko, Moon, T:Maniak and many others. Also, not forgetting the legendary shark figures being unofficial mascots of these events.

In order to kick off a very promising outdoor season, one of the head honchos of the series, Moon provided us with the inaugural Deep in the City podcast. The fact that makes this mixtape kinda unique, is that Moon will not appear in Deep in the City events during the summer since he is already spending some quality time in Ibiza, having gigs and producing brand new music - until September!

So, with a slight touch of Ibiza and the  strong flavour of Budapest, please welcome this nearly 90 minute long appetizer of pure Deep in the City madness.

In case you are being enchanted by the mixtape, you may taste the feeling at Zippp Club in Margitsziget this Sunday. Here's the event itself.

He also managed to sneak in 4 of his own remixes as well, so it is the perfect occassion to get familiar with his productions if you haven't done it before.

Alina Baraz & Galimatias - Fantasy (Felix Jaehn remix)

The Hamburg-based prodigy of melodic deep house music strikes again with a superb little remix of the collaboration of Alina Baraz and Galimatias titled "Fantasy". Fresh off his remix for Avicii, Felix does not disappoint us with bringing his usual chilled yet really melodic sounds which always make us feel that summer will never end. The remix is already released on Ultra Music, watch out for it!

NuAlias - Ivory

Last week French future house god Tchami made a statement with his brand new Caroline Koch remix that was also reviewed on Budapest Bonkers. The Frenchman said that the new genre should be called future music instead of future house since the term of house music is not broad enough to define the whole genre.

This was my first thought when I listened to this track I got from AJ and Paul, the Toronto-based duo better known as NuAlias. The guys recently had a release together with Pairanoid on the Big & Dirty imprint but it seems like that they just cannot stop releasing epic tracks.

"Ivory" is a superb genre mashing future house/breaks/bass track that got my attention on its first play. Epic freebie which - in my opinion - truly certifies the words of Tchami on "future music". Just check it out and show some love to NuAlias!

NUALIAS - IVORY

Jagged Edge - Where The Party At? (Viceroy remix)

The Sultan of summer aka Viceroy returns again with the newest installation of his jet life remixes. This time he reworked a truly classic track and turned it into a sunsoaked monster which will definately find its way to the beaches and seaside bars and making people smile. Jagged Edge's "Where The Party At?" is an instant party classic but if you want to enjoy a really good time then you shouldn't ignore this stunning remix either. Luckily it's free, so you better show some support to Viceroy!

Caroline Koch - Timeless (Tchami remix)

The DirtySoul label has been releasing some amazing and unique stuff nowadays. Once you have survived your UMF hangover, then you have to drop your jaws yet again with this stunning remix by French future house alpha male Tchami! Caroline Koch, a young Italian singer whose first English single is "Timeless" must be quite happy to receive a lead remix that turned the original into a perfect bassy summer jam.

Luckily, it's already out on iTunes.

Budapest Calling pres. Alle Farben @ Akvárium: 5 essential tracks

The Budapest Calling series closed out its winter season in fashion with a quite memorable set by Claptone (it seems like that it was so memorable that I couldn't put a post together since). After a 3 week hiatus it's time now to kick off a very promising spring season which will contain some pretty nice gigs.

First up, it's a new setting with a good old friend: BPC welcomes the Berliner Alle Farben in Akvárium Club in the heart of Budapest. Frans is not a newbie to BPC parties as he already took a taste of the deep house movement in Budapest, delivering a gorgeous set in Trafiq. Flying on the wings of his album "Synaesthesia" which was released last year, he's gigging hard, having fun around the globe - while he also delivered a few new productions in the last weeks.

I've compiled five tracks for you - this time it is not a prediction just having some fun while warming up to the Friday night. Listen and enjoy!

LEXER FEAT. BELLE HUMBLE - FEELS LIKE THIS (ALLE FARBEN REMIX)
This remix is creating huge waves around the blogosphere in the last few days as it is unreleased yet beautiful: a brand new remix to compliment the debut album of Lexer which was released this Monday - I'm sure we will hear this in Frans' set.

ALLE FARBEN - TEMPELHOF
This is where the legend began, back at the abandoned airport in Berlin - one of Frans' first and most well-known productions, having a bit techier edge than nowadays.

HEYMEN - IF I PLAY YOUR GAME (ALLE FARBEN REMIX)
Yet another quite recent remix by Alle Farben, playful melodic house beats showing what would happen if Frans would play your game.

THE AVENER - FADE OUT LINES (ALLE FARBEN REMIX)
One more high octane remix by Alle Farben which was released last autumn and became super popular among Youtube channels and fans, it would be a blast if he would play this one out.

KLANGKARUSSELL VS. ALLE FARBEN VS. SAM SMITH - FARBENKARUSSELL (DJ SCHMOLLI MASHUP)
And really custom pick for the end, though I'm sure this one won't be played but it really deserves a spin - at least during the warmup. Stunning mashup by the Austrian DJ Schmolli which will bring smiles to all the listeners.

PARTY INFO:

Venue: Akvárium (1051 Budapest, Erzsébet tér)

2200-0000 Revue

Budapest Calling pres. Claptone @ Trafiq: 5 essential tracks

Following the high flying birthday party of David K in January, the Budapest Calling crew strikes again with its monthly installment - a spring starter Aquarius carnival - that is promising to be epic.

The headliner of the Thursday evening will be the mysterious Claptone, while Moon will warm up the dancefloor in Trafiq and Blatti will help you to squeeze your last energies in the hours of dawn. As it is becoming usual this year, Budapest Bonkers will help you to get ready for the event by selecting five tracks that will be surely played. Here's the Claptone selection!

CLAPTONE FEAT. JAW - NO EYES
The first selection for this night is way too easy: arguably the biggest production of Claptone to date, selected as Essential New Tune on Pete Tong's radio show and simply being everywhere in 2012, "No Eyes" will be considered as a classic deep house tune with years to come.

CLAPTONE - WRONG
With the second pick I'm going to post my all time favorite Claptone track which is apparently comes from the flip side of "No Eyes" and in fact, is exactly the opposite of its title. Huge, huge deep house action with lots of instruments, if you haven't heard it so far, I bet you will love this one!

PURPLE DISCO MACHINE - NO LIPS
You can never go wrong with a Purple Disco Machine track and the same applies to the releases on Kittball Records too. Let's combine then and you will get the newly release "No Lips" which is featured in almost every Claptone mix lately so you better expect it on Thursday!

ADANA TWINS FEAT. HUMAN LIFE - BLEEDING
Starting from the really early days in 2011, Shur-I-kan's Exploited Records is the home of Claptone so it's not a coincidence that he plays lots of stuff from his imprint. The next Adana Twins tune is no exception either, it will be released next Monday but I'm sure that we will be able to enjoy it on Thursday at Trafiq too!

METRONOMY - I'M AQUARIUS (CLAPTONE REMIX)
And let's save the best for the end: this night will be a carnival for Aquarius people who may already have or will have birthday celebrations in the near future and Claptone was kind enough to think about them and orchestrated this magnificient remix of Metronomy. Party on everyone!

Currently ranked as #30 DJ on the planet and being one of the most well-known artists of Hardwell's Revealed Recordings, Daan Romers aka Dannic will surely bring a high octane EDM set to the dancefloor of Club Play and as usual, BPB won't miss out on the action.

BYNON & DOMENO FEAT. ALICE BERG - GOLDEN HEARTS (DANNIC RE-EDIT)
One of Daan's favorites over the last two months and what a coincidence: it was released this Monday. This one will be played for sure!

Dannic teamed up with the Shermanology crew late 2014 to produce an epic party bomb like "Wait for You". Either the original or the Jewelz & Scott Sparks remix, you just cannot go wrong.

LOOP! Birthday with Oliver $ @ Grand: 5 essential tracks

LOOP! Events were responsible for many memorable nights in Budapest and this Saturday (7th February), it's time for them to celebrate again. The simple occassion is a birthday and the invited superstar is none other than Berlin-based beatmaker and last year's Ibiza favorite Oliver $.

Further to taking the house scene by a storm with "Pushing" (alongside Jimi Jules), Oliver established himself a home at Defected Records, took numerous gigs in Ibiza last summer and lashed out some stunning remixes throughout the autumn club season

The party will take place at Grand, the brand new club situated in Óbuda.

Let's scroll through 5 handpicked tracks that will surely define the night.

OLIVER $ & BrEaCh - WATCH ME WORK
Oliver's latest joint just got a release on the 10th anniversary compilation of Dirtybird. Produced along with Ben Westbeech aka BrEaCh, we got some pure house music right over here.

ROMANTHONY - LET ME SHOW YOU LOVE (OLIVER $ REMIX)
Even though this is not the newest work of Oliver, he still manages to play it nearly every time. So does the original, this is timeless as well and will surely work on dancefloors for many years to come.

HERCULES & LOVE AFFAIR - DO YOU FEEL THE SAME (OLIVER $ REMIX)
Oliver's latest remix offering arrived in December and quickly found its way to the top jocks' playlists as well so it's a safe bet to say that this will spin on Saturday night.

ED ED - I GOT (SOMETHING YOU NEED) (OLIVER $ REMIX)
From Berlin, from Defected Records: Ed Ed and Oliver $ makes a really cool team, you better expect this one.

Luca Lush - Promise

The New York-based Luca Lush already proved himself as a talented producer on the bassier side of electronic dance music. This time he decided to treat us with a stunning future house/deep house genre melting free track, titled "Promise". Being both banging and mellow this one will be a perfect transition track if you want to spice up your sets with something really unique.

No wonder, I'll play this a lot and hopefully you will as well, since it is a free download. Grab it and show some love to the artist!

Budapest Calling pres. David K Birthday Party: 5 essential tracks

This brand new segment will showcase five essential tracks that you need to know before heading out to a party. The first selection features the next Budapest Calling night which promises to be a memorable one: not only David K celebrating his birthday in our hometown but he also invited his friends, Tom B and Compact Grey to join him in the festivities! This is going to be one hell of a b3b set I think!

So, let's kick off the warmup with these stunning deep house gems.

TIESTO FEAT. DBX - LIGHT YEARS AWAY (DAVID K REMIX)
Yes, you've read it right: David recently remixed the one and only Tiesto and the result is excellent! I think it perfectly illustrates the talent of David to stick with his trademark sound while remixing a track from a totally different genre. Though I'm not sure whether he will play this remix on Friday, I bet you would like to check it out!

TOM B - FRIEDENSTRASSE
Tom's latest release on the "soon-to-be-really-huge" German imprint Dusted Decks is a superb club tool which is also complimented by a Teenage Mutants remix. Just play any of the two and you will get a sweet taste of why German deep house is considered to be the best around the world right now!

VIJAY & SOFIA ZLATKO - LE JARDIN (COMPACT GREY & JULIAN WASSERMANN REMIX)
Mirko aka Compact Grey will definately bring his pumping sound to the house on Friday and I think this brand new remix won't be missing either! No warmup material here, just pure peaktime madness!

INDIGO THEORY - NEVER & ALWAYS
Let's not forget about Indigo Theory! The Hungarian formation won the Budapest Calling DJ Contest last December and is now responsible for the tasty warmup of this Friday's party - and this pearl won't be missing from their set, I'm sure!

DAVID K - MEET YOU (THOMAS LIZZARA REMIX)
Let's say that this is the "unofficial" Budapest Calling anthem...yes, you want to take another listen, it's gorgeous!

Budapest Bonkers Top 100 of 2014: 10-1

Hi everyone! For the second time after 2013, the countdown of the best tunes of the year was up and running. Though I am heavily late, it is time to wrap up the best tracks from last year!

It has been an outstanding year, we saw new genres rise such as deep house and future house, we saw new superstars born such as Oliver Heldens, Tchami or Kygo and we have enjoyed tons of great music all year long. Let's rerun the best tracks from 2014 on this heavily biased list!

10. PHARRELL WILLIAMS X DAFT PUNK - GUST OF WIND (URBAN CONTACT & FARLEON REMIX)
First, I thought that this is going to be the "Get Lucky" of 2014, however it is way better while the duo of Urban Contact and Farleon managed to take it to even higher levels by adding a serious bassline and some super funky elements.

09. SIGMA FEAT. PALOMA FAITH - CHANGING (MAJESTIC REMIX)
Sigma became true superstars in 2014, though it is Majestic's own majestic touch that turned the drum & bass original into an epic nudisco floorfiller.

08. ZHU - FADED
We saw the birth of a new superstar with this track.

07. HIGHER SELF FEAT. LAUREN MASON - GHOST
Future house was one of the most popular new genre definition with Higher Self being one of the best at it. Well deserved top 10 finish!

06. KANT VS. MK - EY YO
I saw so many dancefloors just exploding to this track. KANT is also one of the strong candidates for the producer of the year title.

05. HOT NATURED - BENEDICTION (LXURY REMIX)
I could not imagine that there will be any better versions than the epic original. Luckily, Lxury could imagine. The result speaks for itself.

04. MOTEZ - PROMISE ME (ALEX BRANDT RE-EDIT)
The original would purely made the top 10 but Alex Brandt's saxy sounds rocketed this one to so many of my summer sets.

03. DUSKY - YOOHOO
If it wasn't released in November this could be even higher! Stunning production, I can't resist to play it in nearly every set!

02. BLONDE FEAT. MELISSA STEEL - I LOVED YOU
This is totally personal but you must know that feeling when you hear a track for the first time and you think "WHAT IS THIS? I NEED THIS!". Perfect vocals, perfect balancing between house and indie dance. Exactly what I'm looking for!

01. EELKE KLEIJN - MISTAKES I'VE MADE
I think the biggest story in electronic dance music in 2014 was the rise of deep house and any alternates referring to the genre. This track totally stand out for me, both for musical and personal reasons so before I started compiling the list I already knew that this one will finish as the top choice.

James Grow - Riki EP

Started out as an underground party series a few years ago, and now being one of the trademark names in the Budapest nightlife, Hi!Fly Music showcases yet another stellar release. Though it is only the fourth release on the label, we can already call it the home of Hungarian talent in the deep house scene. Following EPs from already established acts, like Snilloc and Yvel & Tristan, it is time for James Grow to debut two really nice original tracks on the label.

James has played numerous clubs and festivals around Hungary, and production-wise had releases on Itom Records earlier. Being one of the resident DJs on Hi!Fly events, he tries to capture the atmosphere of these nights with these two peak-time dancefloor masters, both of them equipped with nasty basslines and gorgeous drops.

You better check out the previews and get ready as the release date is set for 10th February 2015.

Mickey - You Know The Beat

Mickey starts out 2015 with yet another great anthem. "You Know The Beat" is a mixup of 90es French house combined with a classic old school American house vibe. Just think Cassius meets Todd Terry.

The deep house scene saw Mickey as a newcomer, growing on the label Exploited Records. His releases "Sweet Baby", "Holding Hands" and "Walk Away" are topping the Exploited bestsellers of 2014. Especially "Sweet Baby" which was among the top 10 best selling deep house tracks on Beatport. Next to his Belgian residency at the infamous Libertine Supersport nights, he travels all over the world to rock the crowd with his energetic DJ sets.

He just finished a remix for Modular Records stars Bag Raiders and is currently in London working on his next single.

So, taste the brand new single „You Know The Beat”, and if you like you can already pre-order it on iTunes at http://bit.ly/YouKnowTheBeat

Release date is set for 26 January 2015.

LoveStyle Records release new compilation

Hungarian deep house and nudisco powerhouse LoveStyle Records kicked off the new year in style by releasing the first installation of a brand new compilation series titled "Lost Tapes". Lost Tapes will occasionally feature unreleased gems by some of the premier up and coming talents in the deep house sphere.

The first compilation feature some decent warm up tracks by Brazilian house hero Alternative Kasual who is already featured on Beachside Records earlier and Toulouse-based newcomer Juloboy. On the peak time side, the compo got some intriguing bassline from Italian prodigy Rockaforte and Rio de Janeiro's own Ramon Kreisler. I have to admit that my absolute favorite in the package is coming from the Croatian-Greek duo of Echodust in the form of "D.U.S.T." which is a proper future house monster.

Be sure to check out the compilation and in the process, throw some likes to LoveStyle Records  and buy the tracks you like as well.

Eric Prydz & Jeremy Olander - Essential Mix (2015-01-03)

Even though the year 2015 has just started, BBC Radio 1 already offered us a mammoth Essential Mix. In the first episode of the new year, we saw the two Swedish superstars, Eric Prydz and Jeremy Olander going back to back. Sharing the turntables is nothing new to the guys as they did the same many times during the EPIC 3.0 tour of Eric.

As it was expected from the master and his protege, the 2-hour journey featured some slick techno and melodic progressive house pieces, loads of new and unheard material with most of them will be released sooner or later on Eric's very own Pryda Recordings (as it is expected).

There are still nearly 50 Essential Mixes to go this year, I bet that this one is a strong contender for Essential Mix of the year title.
