Pete Tong - The Essential Selection (2012-03-09)

As a part of the BPB weekend treats I would like to present you Pete Tong's Essential Selection from BBC Radio 1.

Kicking things off with Carl Kennedy's new tracks as well as Arty and Matisse & Sadko’s "Trio" from Axtone, last night’s episode was off to nothing but a great start. Continuing with Adrian Lux's  ‘Fire‘ and the soon to be released (and also blogged by BPB) "Feel" by Third Party and Cicada before jumping on to this week’s contenders from Calvin Harris and Tensnake and essential new tune in shape of a brand-new collaboration between Pnau and Elton John, it seems as if Tong just keeps getting better and better at bringing us the best of everything.

BPB Party Planner: Ninjabreakz 5th Birthday /w Stanton Warriors @ A38 (03-10, Saturday)

In the previous post, I told you that this Saturday's gonna be really, really massive in Budapest. Well, here's another reason why. Another great crew, Ninjabreakz will also celebrate its 5th Birthday with a huge party on the A38 Boat, including special guest Stanton Warriors!

This is going to be a special party in terms of genres, since the guys will play pure breakbeat sets (or a little DnB mixed in maybe), no trendy flashes, just celebrating the whole 5 years and its best memories. Well, talking of memories there are some really special ones for Pryus, Psyon and Krueger since the guys played alongside Aquasky, Krafty Kuts, Plump DJs, NAPT, Pyramid and many more big names in the business.
Let's see what we've got for tomorrow. The Stanton Warriors are not just great DJs and producers, but they're also really well known for their fantastic dancefloor bombing re-edits. So, as a kind of a warmup, or let's say a gift to all supporters, they've put 2 great ones up to Soundcloud during the last few weeks, which I'm gonna share with you right now.

First of all, here's their re-edit of the 2010 summer tune "Coma Cat" by Tensnake. This one was posted earlier on the BPB Facebook wall, but I just can't resist to post it here again, it's so awesome and free.

BPB Party Planner: Kollektiva 5th Birthday /w Little Boots @ Merlin (03-10, Saturday)

It's going to be a really busy weekend in Budapest, when it comes to parties, but I think one of the biggest one will be the 5th Birthday of the Kollektiva crew. Kollektiva has been a quite influential and progressive crew throughtout the last years, and they not only changed the nightlife in Budapest, but also gained huge support and audience in other Hungarian cities aswell. They brought a new musical taste, which depended mostly on the blogosphere, creating the first stir in Hungary of french electro, fidget, tropical and global bass among many others.
The 3 guys, TMX, Fullstereo and Popbitch played along acts and DJs such as 2many DJs, Busy P, Fake Blood, Style of Eye, Yuksek, Kissy Sell Out, Foamo, Calvertron, Jaymo & Andy George, Mightyfools, Blatta & Inesha, Don Rimini, His Majesty Andre and many more. So, let's talk about the 5th anniversary party, since the crew got a very special guest for tomorrow night, none else than Little Boots! I think we all remember her biggest hits like "New in Town", "Remedy" or "Stuck on Repeat", but this time she's gonna perform a DJ set! You might wonder about what the beautiful blondie plays, when it comes to DJing, so I'm just giving you a hint, by posting a few months old mix by her - let's treat it as a warmup!

Thursday Update: Seamus Haji & Nelski, Cazzette, Pixel Cheese

This post is all about house music, including upcoming and freshly released tunes, so you better check this out if you're preparing to guess: what will be really hot this year in Miami? Let's go!

I think it's not news that Chris Lake's Rising Music label is totally on a roll in 2012. Chris' "Build Up" and TJR's "Funky Vodka" were banged those charts and DJ bags, and here's another quality release. This time it's big name Seamus Haji  teamed up with Nelski for a fantastic festival track, including a sample from the everlasting "Hey Boy Hey Girl" from The Chemical Brothers. BPB Favorite Lunde Bros. took the remix duties, and the guys took the original to a whole new level, with a more chunky bassline, though I still cannot choose between these two. And now let's get a bit harder with two fantastic previews from Swedish CAZZETTE. The guys really took their name to a new level, after their gig in New York at New Year's Eve. We heard lots of exclusive in their set back then, which was obviously posted here aswell. Now, after a few months it's time for tunes to see the limelight, so here's the preview of their original track "Make Some Room" including samples from Daft Punk's "Technologic", and also a remix from them for Jay Z & Kanye's "Ni**as in Paris". Very Dada Life-ish, banging electro both times!

I also want to introduce a new name on the electro house scene (though I think he doesn't need a really big introduction), and he's none else than Pixel Cheese! He's coming from Szczecin, Poland and already got releases on Ultra Records, remixed for Steve Aoki and got supported by Gregori Klosman. Not a bad start, but what is even better, that he got an original track, called "Elva" released two days ago on Ultra! I think the future is really bright for him, and just to underline that, you should totally check out this full version of his big-room house track!

From France with Love: Feadz & Kito, Lifelike, G. Vump, Pipes

I recently discovered that I've been posting lots, and I really mean LOTS of electro, and somehow the really nice french touch and underground bass sound gets a smaller role. Now that should really change!

Feadz teamed up with Kito on a collab EP called "Electric Empire". The teaser shows that it's going to be really eclectic, yet still a huge listening pleasure, while it slowly gets you dancing aswell. The EP will include 4 tracks "Electric Empire" (the original and the instrumental version), "Wettex" and "Oh Yeah" - this one with the vocals of Reija Lee. It'll be out on Ed Banger Records by the end of March. Take a listen until then!

The newly-born Bromance Records hit the jackpot with a fantastic first release back in autumn featuring Brodinski and Gesaffelstein (it also got posted here on BPB, if that counts!). Well, a few months went down, the guys finished a Bromance Tour, and now it's time for the second release. The Pipes track, called "Sleeping" is one hell of a techno banger, the vocals really remind me of Tiga, this one will get huge support I bet. On the flip, we've got the G. Vump track "Feeling" which is totally the opposite, air-light atmosphere, fancy beats - the spring is on my mind! Check out both!

The BPB Selection #8

It's Monday again...so, with the weekly BPB Selection, I'll try to choose 5 tracks each week which - in my opinion - absolutely can't miss ones. There are no rules for genre, either it's a party banger or a listening pleasure, either it's brand new or a bit older (though I'll try to focus mainly on the newbies). The side-project of French NeeliXxX made a massive follow-up of the Night Mechanics EP with a bootleg for Justice's "Ohio". Cranky, acidic all over - it's a true quality production and also a free download, and deserves of a place on this week's selection!

I got this remix from 14-year old (!!!) Australian wonderkid Will K, who teamed up Kevin Robinson for this fantastic bootleg of Dirty South & Those Usual Suspects' megahit from last autumn (or summer, if we are speaking of Australia). Free download aswell, so spread it as much as you can, since these guys deserve the attention!

I've blogged earlier about this release on Italian label La Valigetta, but it's just so sexy that I must include it in the selection. The Finnish duo hit the jackpot with their wobbly disco sound, the track itself gained massive support, plus it was licensed for a Hed Kandi compilation aswell!

The Swedish duo matured their sound a lot during the last 2 years, and nowadays they are one of the biggest names when it comes to dreamy electro sounds. Monday update: Joachim Garraud, Gooseflesh, Deadbots

First of all, sorry for the lack of posts during the last 3 days, I had a really busy weekend, but now I'm back in business with 2 fantastic electro releases and 1 preview of a really promising EP, so I think you should take a glance at these!

Joachim Garraud is really not a rookie, when it comes to electronic dance music. The guy is a kind of an icon in France, he worked with several artists so far while had really successful stints in the house scene. But he's into electro now and this means really good things for us. He's collab with Alesia, called "Hook" got released earlier today on Dim Mak Recordings. Though it's only 4 minutes long, but in these 4 minutes he brings as a powerful, banging big room track with some really nice melodic chops, I wouldn't be surprised if this one will land in many DJs' bags! Another release from today, and also deserve a mention is the new EP of Gooseflesh. The Turkish duo already had releases on labels like the forementioned Dim Mak, Coco Machete, Freakz Me Out or Boxon, the new "Get Them All EP" is coming on Italian SHAX TRAX. The EP contains 2 original tracks "Get Them All" and "Spin", both are pretty nice melodic electro tracks, with massive wobbly basslines. The real deal for me is the 3rd track though, which is a remix by Jasko who happens to be 1/2 of Gooseflesh. He delivers a massive 110 BPM remix of "Spin", even a bit harder than the original, really love the whole EP, but this one just stands out for me. Top stuff! Check out the previews!

BPB Party Planner: Be Massive /w The Loops of Fury @ Corvintető (03-03, Saturday)

Saturday, the 3rd March marks the date of this month's Be Massive party at Corvintető, Budapest. The Be Massive party series started out as the brainchild of Metha, under the name "Breakbeat Massive" and after several years and so many memorable parties, the head honcho finally changed it to Be Massive since it's not just breakbeat but it's all about electro, house and many other genres aswell. This time, the special guest will be a first-timer in Hungary, none else than the magical duo of The Loops of Fury! Here's a little teaser, before we get to those warmup sets!

The now London-based duo of the Brisbane kids made a huge impact on the world of electro and breakbeat over the last few year. With releases on labels like Dim Mak, U&A Recordings or Lektroluv, plus numerous free mashups and bootlegs from their Soundcloud account (some of them were posted here aswell) - not mentioning their megahit "I Need" - the guys truly considered as real world stars.
